Second meeting with Lec in Semester two

Yesterday(26th July, 2010) all members met for a group meeting to discuss our thoughts on the trip/shoot over the weekend in the sister isle of Tobago. Also within that meeting we captured some of the footage from the Tobago shoots. From what was seen, it seemed great so far. I got the opportunity to view the shoot at the beach called "No Man's Land"(which I missed, because to work I was not able to attend the shoot on Sunday afternoon). It certainly looked great and beautiful on that beach and most importantly for me it sounded great.

Due to a few glitches, it was agreed that we may require another trip to the sister island some time soon. One of the main reason was the uncomfortable feeling we held when a strange man entered on Hermitage....so to avoid any issues we packed up shot and headed out of there. There will be another meeting to establish the dates of our next visit.

Today we intended to meet with our Lecturer to show her the captured footage so far. Unfortunately we were stopped in our tracks because there were some factors that were not included, that could seriously affect our grade, so we take four steps back. The reasoning behind this serious hurdle is mis information by a previous Lecturer. It would seem we were guided down an incorrect path for this project. It was indeed disappointing to realize this, however I so appreciate the fact we found out now and not later on when it might have been to late. Applying the glass half full theory.

READINGS: http://www.trinoutdoors.com -checked out that for just some more knowledge on the beaches..amazing there are so many beaches here in TnT, and so many untouched.

I also checked out http://www.tdc.co.tt- just for basic information from the tourist attraction point of view. What I did notice alot of these beaches that we are recci_ing aren't even mentioned on the site. Hmmm something to think about!

So we meet again with our lecturer next week Tuesday on the issue and meet the group tomorrow to make those vital changes and capture some more footage. I believe because we are all great team players in this group we will come out fine...

First shoot-Weekend in Tobago

At first nerves stepped in when I realized Friday was upon me, its the day we fly to the sister isle to shoot or gather footage for our "Final Project". We left Trinidad at 8:15 pm and arrived in the sister isle atleast 20 minutes later. There Trixie's sister Tracey(who would also be out driver for this weekend shoot across the island) picked us up at the airport and took us to our hotel room for the weekend.

Ohh what a long day it was...wow!! The day began for us all at between 5 am - 5:30 am. The drive was at least two hours away. Now nature and its beauty is certainly worth the sacrifice and time. Our first stop was at Pirate's Bay, which required a thirty minute hike up through a dirt track. It was from there the shooting began. We spent a little over 5 hours at this beach gathering all the necessary shots to pull off the documentary. Ending out that shoot with a dip in the beautiful clear, calm waters of Pirate's Bay. Then the hard part commenced getting back out, and this required us going back up the one hundred plus stairs though the trees and down the 30 minute dirt track. After the most tiring trip back, lunch was a must.

It was after that hour break for lunch, we ventured to Hermitage Beach which could have been about a 30 minute drive further to the eastern side of Tobago. The only truly appreciated visit was the omission of this beach, was of tiresome hike towards the beach which Pirate's bay permitted. There at Hermitage we again were embraced by nature's beauty, indeed another Hidden Treasure!! One factor both beaches possessed was the seclusion element. Other than the five of us, the beach maybe had one or two other persons.

Shooting began promptly when we got there as by now we sort of grew weary, but we knew we had to endure. The shoot itself went perfectly. Audio was perfect. Location and delivery on point....but then came this strange guy who came and distracted our shoot... However relatively it was a productive day.  So it seems unfortunately we may have to revisit. Not great news, but I hues these things do and can happen at shoots.

Sunday morning which was another early morning move at 5:45 am. I was only able to stay for the shoot at the airport as I had to report for work back in Trinidad later on that day for 2pm. The shoot at the airport required permission to film on the airport grounds. Trixie made a few calls and upon receiving permission we began the shoot. However after about spending two hours with the group for that shoot, I said my goodbyes to them and headed to the departure lounge to head home.

Meeting held on the 19th July-productive

All members of the group were present for a small group meeting, with regards to the next trip (the first shoot) this weekend in the sister isle of Tobago. As the sound person I did  make mention to the Director that I would be heading to the office to double check the equipment needed for the shoot. However I was informed that it was already taken care of by the Production Assistant.  The meeting commenced at 4:45 pm, and this issues below were discussed.

Meeting times for travel on 23rd July 2010 (Sherrece will pick up Jillian & Trixie at 6:00pm to be at the airport for 6:45.)

The Flight time is at 8:15 pm

The wardrobe for the host was briefly discussed (Bikini's, wraps & make-up)

Simone and Trixie will meet today(20th July 2010) to discuss the hosts script for the 3 shoots (No Man's Land, Hermitage Bay and Pirate's Bay).

Trixie presented another idea emerged for the opening montage (Have the names of the director, editor, production co. etc inscribed on items on the beach, for example, directed by: could be in the sand whilst edited by could be on a coconut tree etc) It's just a contingency plan

READINGS: There is a magazine called In's and Out's that gave a nice look at some beaches on the twin island.

Cd's found

Today a small meeting was held pertaining to things required for Tobago.

Role as a researcher and Readings:

The search began today for me to source the musical beds to be used for this documentary. Found atleast 8 Elan parle albums within my personal collection. As I read up on the biography of the local group at http://elan-parle.tripod.com/ I listened to the six albums.

Hope the group like my selections.
